One of Australia's foremost thinkers on international security is shortly to take up a newly established position at the University of Sydney. Professor Alan Dupont, well known academic, media commentator and strategic analyst has been appointed as the inaugural holder of the Michael Hintze Chair in International Security Studies.
This new Chair has been established following a significant donation from a distinguished graduate of the University, Mr. Michael Hintze, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of CQS Management, one of Europe's leading asset management companies. The new Centre for International Security Studies will be Australia's first truly interdisciplinary group providing academic research and strategic policy advice on international security.
Professor Dupont is currently Senior Fellow for International Security at the Lowy Institute for International Policy, a Sydney based think tank, and he is a former Director of the Asia-Pacific Security Program at the Australian National University's Strategic and Defence Studies Centre. He is also one of five Australian representatives to the ASEAN Regional Forum's Register of Experts and Eminent Persons and is a special advisor on foreign policy to East Timor's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jose Ramos Horta.
